Calls for Cleveland Police to be brought under Emergency Intervention by the Home Office is growing after video footage of a suspect being beaten by a serving police officer goes viral.
The footage shared on social media yesterday evening shows a number of police officers restraining a suspect whilst one officer lay in blow after blow to the suspects chest & torso in an incident which reportedly occurred at Hartington Road in Stockton on Tees yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday evening Cleveland Police issued a statement attempting to justify the incident claiming the suspect "kicked a female officer in the face and also bit two other police officers", however no evidence of this can be verified in the video footage.
They added : "we are aware of a video circulating online that relates to officers attending to Hartington Road in Stockton shortly after 2pm on Wednesday 3 September".
"This was in response to a serious assault of a man who was left unconscious".
The incident is already said to be worryingly reminiscent of a similar situation which occurred just over two years ago in Hartlepool, when local man Stephen Stead was murdered by two police officers after video footage then circulated online showed Mr Stead being dragged from a vehicle parked in Whitby Street Hartlepool before two officers laid in blows to Mr Steads chest before Mr Stead was then bundled into a van & shipped to Middlesbrough Custody Suite where he then later died from his injuries.
The video footage of that incident was mysteriously "lost"....
The latest incident has seen the force of no public confidence see a barrage of criticism online, with many describing Cleveland Police as "corrupt", "unaccountable" & a "law onto themselves"....
Locals agree that the latest incident showing the unnamed suspect being repeatedly 'beaten' cannot be explained as the use of appropriate & reasonable force by a police constable & that urgent intervention by the home office must be made & the Extremist Group brought back under special measures.
The Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) have not made any statement in regards to the incident as the Teesside & Durham Post went to publication with this article, however the latest incident underscores an institution that's clearly 'gone rogue' & is a danger to the public.
