Hartlepool Construction Firm Bridgman IBC Limited Falls Into Administration as The Volatile Economic Conditions In the Construction Sector Claim Another Scalp.

11th March 2026

A Hartlepool based company employing more than 70 people has gone into administration after reportedly amassing significant debts. Bridgman IBC Limited, which specialises in the construction of fire rated security doors was placed into administration late last week by the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts in Manchester.

Insolvency specialists Robert Alexander Henry Maxwell and Ian James Royle of BTG Begbies Traynor have now been appointed as joint administrators and will now reportedly oversee the company’s affairs, with financial accounts filed at Companies House for the year ending 31st of March 2024 showing the company owed around £1.445 Million Pounds worth of debt to its creditors with the company employing 74 members of staff.

Administrators are now said to be in the process of assessing whether any part of the Hartlepool business can continue to operate, be restructured, or sold in order to maximise returns for its creditors.

The company had previously been saved from closure back in 2004, when when a Management buyout saved the company & its then 65 workers The management team, which comprised of Mick Butler, Tony Phillips, Peter Bowes, and Neil Scott funded the buyout deal through private investment funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The collapse highlights the continued pressure facing firms in the construction industry, where its claimed rising material costs, tight margins and cash flow challenges have all pushed a growing number of local firms into insolvency, with the Teesside & Durham Post previously reporting in February 2026 that BuildRoute Ltd, another local construction firm has been plunged into administration following similar troubles.
