Plans have gone into the Hartlepool Development Corporation which could see another empty building brought back into use....
11th December 2024
Plans have been submitted which could see a currently vacant property brought back into use as a Bar/Restaurant subject to approval when the plans are put before the Hartlepool Development Corporation (HDC) for consideration.
According to the planning statement, Wardman Brown have been appointed by the owners of 2 Scarborough Street to assist with the submission of a Planning Application seeking a Change of Use consent to enable a Bar/Restaurant business to operate within the property, as well as some minor internal alterations and the installation of a first-floor external terrace to the rear.
The property is said to have been previously been used as a house, but has now been empty for over
two years. The proposals are to open a new Bar/Restaurant business within the property, using the Ground and First floors for the Public areas with the Kitchen and Cellar in the Basement and the private Staff space to be situated in the Second floor attic room.
Located within a designated Late Night Uses Area, the applicants say there will be no adverse effects on the character, appearance, function or amenity of the property or the surrounding area & in turn the plans will bring a currently vacant property back into use, with the report outlining that a number of very similar businesses exist within a 200yard radius of the property so it is not expected that there will be negative implications on crime in the area.
Its expected the Hartlepool Development Corporation will make a final decision on the application sometime in the new year.
