Teesside Court has reportedly granted yet another closure order against a Hartlepool Shop suspected to be involved in alleged criminal activity prompting the need for what council officers claim was its immediate closure.

Slemani Express in Hartlepool's Murray Street is now the third establishment to be subject to a Closure Order granted by Teesside Court under the Anti Social Behaviour Act following claims the shop was reportedly involved in the sale of illegal tobacco & other criminality related to organised crime.

Teesside court is said to have granted the closure order following the similar closure orders made to two separate establishments over the space of a year within a short walking distance & all within the Murray St area.

A shop believed to be owned by the same proprietor was closed down just months ago with the local council citing similar concerns over its activities.

In addition to the most recent closure order granted to Hartlepool Borough Council, its claimed extensions on the original closure orders of two further shops believed to be owned by the same proprietor have been granted, with Hartlepool Borough Council claiming previously that they were playing a game of "cat & mouse" with the shop owners when it was determined that as soon as a closure order was granted against one property, the proprietors would simply move to a nearby location to set up shop once more leading to the local council which in 2023 was declared an authority of no public confidence left with tens of thousands of pounds worth of court costs, all of which are expected to be shouldered by the local tax payer.

The closure order means no person can enter the premises for a set period as stated by the court order, with those found to have breached the order liable to a fine or imprisonment.
