Plans have been submitted which could finally see a vandal stricken building demolished, after concerns were raised over the increase in Anti Social Behaviour the derelict building was causing.

The plans submitted by Jackson Design Associates Ltd propose the demolition of West View House in the towns West View road, just a short distance away from the towns Central Estate to facilitate the potential future redevelopment of the site.

The building was the scene of a major fire which ripped through the former nursing home back in August 2022, with the building suffering substantial damage due to years of neglect & vandalism before the latest arson attack ripped through the roof of the building making it structurally unsafe.

Concerns were raised by the local community only recently, following claims a large portion of the scaffolding's netting had become dislodged resulting in it blowing into the road, with locals claiming the building has led to a significant increase in Anti Social behaviour in the area & are pleased that efforts to demolish the building are now being undertaken.

A decision on the plans is expected to be made by the end of February 2025
