A serving Durham Constabulary officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexual communication with a child and misconduct in public office.
The 31-year-old was detained in the early hours of this morning, Friday, September 25th, and remained in police custody at the time of the force’s statement. He's been immediately suspended from duty while a criminal investigation is carried out.
The Teesside & Durham Post understands that the officer named as Haydyn Brunsdon living in Catterick Garrison North Yorkshire is based at Darlington Police Station & was arrested following an online operation exposing suspected child predators.
The latest development comes just months after a previous Durham Police officer’s arrest on suspicion of rape was reported. In that case, it was reported an allegation involving a woman while the officer was off duty. The officer was suspended and had been released on bail at the time of that report back in July 2026.
