The owners of a Hartlepool Business have reportedly been served with enforcement notice by the Hartlepool Development Corporation, following claims the business is breaching its current planning conditions...

The Bank, located in Hartlepool's Church Street was reportedly served enforcement notice in August this year relating to claims it was being used as a Takeaway / 'dark kitchen', effectively meaning the business was being used as a commercial kitchen preparing food for delivery or takeout, and is not open to the public..

The enforcement notice come as part of a report which went before councillors at the most recent Hartlepool Development Corporation board meeting held earlier this month, where its claimed the planning contravention notice was issued to the business on the 22nd August 2024, with the Hartlepool Development Corporation (HDC) reportedly "still Awaiting the submission of a retrospective application for bar/restaurant use".

Following investigation, its claimed from a source that the owner of the business trading as "The Bank" is the son of a serving Hartlepool Labour Party Councillor, with the enforcement notice, if not complied with, leading to a fine being imposed, or in some cases the business made subject to a closure by the court.

Three other properties are said to be subject of either ongoing investigation or enforcement action by the Hartlepool Development Corporation, with at least one said to be in the process of legal action being taken relating to formal enforcement action.
