The Hartlepool Councillor who's represented no less than four different political parties has announced he will not be standing for re-election in Hartlepool in the May 2026 local council elections.
9th November 2025
A Hartlepool Councillor with a prolific history of driving offences spanning back nearly two decades has announced he's to 'quietly' withdraw from political life.
Shane Moore, who represents Hartlepool's Headland & Harbour Ward as an Independent councillor recently announced he would not be seeking re-election in the Hartlepool ward, following what appears to be signs Hartlepool's love of both Labour & Independent councillors is about to turn 'sour', leading to a fundamental shift in political power at Hartlepool Borough Council in less than six months time.
Cllr Moore, now standing as an independent represented no less than four different political parties, ranging from the Conservatives, UKIP, The Brexit Party & More recently, the now defunct Hartlepool Independent Union, which, according to Electoral Commission Records boasted just £25 pounds in its account, just enough to keep its registration current.
Cllr Moore was regarded as one of Hartlepool's most controversial characters after being caught driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol not once...... but twice. The later incident seeing him blow nearly three times over the drink drive limit when officers approach his vehicle parked in West View Road Hartlepool back in 2017, with Mr Moore reportedly found slumped over the steering wheel of his Ford Fiesta with officers stating in court that Moore was "clearly intoxicated"...
Following his conviction, the court heard that Moore had a similar conviction dating back to 2005.
Moore was disqualified from driving for 2 years, ordered to undertake 60 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £705.
Its said to be much welcome news to Reform UK, who are planning to field candidates in council wards across Hartlepool, as both Labour & Independent Councillors are all widely expected to lose their seats in the May 2026 local council elections paving the way to what many expect will be the resignation of Labours prime Minister Keir Starmer shortly after.
