A Move Too Far? Hartlepool Removals Firm Collapses Under Weight of Mounting Financial Troubles...

21st October 2026

A Hartlepool-based removals and storage company has entered creditors' voluntary liquidation after its most recently published accounts revealed huge financial liabilities, with more than £330,000 recorded as owing to creditors in 2024.

Focus Removals & Storage/Teesside Ltd, which operated from premises at Lauder Buildings, Mainsforth Terrace, Hartlepool, formally entered liquidation on the 14th October 2026 according to documents seen this week by the Teesside & Durham post bringing to an end the uncertain future for a business established more than nine years ago.

According to an official notice published in The Gazette, insolvency practitioner Peter John Harold, of Bespoke Insolvency Solutions in Rochdale, has now been appointed the firms liquidator following a decision involving the company's members and creditors.

The company's collapse comes after several years of reported financial difficulties which were apparent in its published accounts, alongside repeated notices of proposed compulsory strike-offs appearing on the Companies House register.

Accounts Reveal More Than £330,000 Owed to Creditors

The company's latest publicly available accounts, covering the financial year ending 31 May 2024, reveals the extent of its previously reported financial difficulties, with the accounts disclosing £332,521 in creditor liabilities, against total recorded assets of just £134,071.

Although its claimed net liabilities had improved from £260,451 in 2023, the company remained in a substantial negative financial position for several years before its eventual collapse, with the formal statement of affairs likley to see further creditor liabilities unearthed in the weeks ahead.

Further examination of Companies House records reveals that the business had faced repeated compulsory strike-off proceedings before entering liquidation, with the company's accounts for the year ending May 2025 also overdue, having been due for submission in February 2026, according to the Companies House...

Liquidators are now said to be in the process of examining the firms financial affairs, identifying and realising available assets to the firms preferential creditors as well as assessing creditor claims and distributing any recoverable funds in accordance with insolvency legislation.
