Both teams issue joint statement ahead of match this weekend amidst reminders of a previous 'clash' last year

Hartlepool United and York City are set to face off in the National League this Saturday, with both teams eager to claim the three points. However, memories of past clashes between the two sets of supporters have led to heightened security measures to ensure that this fixture is remembered for football, not violence.
A Rivalry Marred by Disorder

The last meeting between Hartlepool and York City was overshadowed by ugly scenes off the pitch, with incidents of disorder breaking out between rival fans. Reports from the previous fixture detailed scuffles, arrests, and a significant police presence to contain the situation, with such incidents said to have tarnish the sport and detracted from the passion and commitment shown by the majority of supporters who simply wanted to enjoy the game.
In response, its claimed both clubs, alongside their respective supporter groups, have been working closely with both Cleveland Police and North Yorkshire Police to prevent a repeat of past trouble, sending out a strong message that the action remain on the pitch, & not in the streets.
Matchday Arrangements & Security Measures

According to the statement put out by both Hartlepool United & York City FC, To ensure a smooth and enjoyable match-day experience, several measures have now been put in place which include a Designated Away Supporter Pubs: York City fans will only be allowed in The Jackson Wharf (TS24 0XN) and Rosie’s (TS24 0UJ). Other venues in Church Square and Church Street will not admit away fans to minimize the risk of confrontations. A Recommended Route to the Stadium with a mapped-out path from Hartlepool train station to the designated pubs provided, with supporters encouraged to stick to this route , Away Supporter Escort: A police-escorted group will leave Rosie’s bar on Hartlepool Marina at 14:00, stopping at The Jackson Wharf at 14:15 before heading directly to the Suit Direct Stadium as well as a Dispersal Order being put in Place: From 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 1st, until midnight on Sunday, March 2nd, with police having the power to order individuals to leave the area if they engage in anti-social behaviour.
If deemed necessary, York City supporters may also be held inside the stadium for 10–15 minutes after full-time as a precaution to avoid post-match clashes. However, Cleveland Police have assured fans that they will still be able to catch the 17:53 train back to York.
