Two Arrested After Police Pursuit Ends With a Crash at a Busy Hartlepool Roundabout.

A dramatic police pursuit through Hartlepool ended in a crash late yesterday afternoon, with two people arrested at the scene.
The incident, believed to have begun in the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool seen a Nissan Juke reportedly failed to stop for police. Officers initiated a pursuit, with the vehicle then seen to be travelling at speed through several parts of the town, including West View and Bishop Cuthbert, as it headed towards the outskirts of Hartlepool.
As the situation escalated, a police helicopter was deployed to assist officers on the ground. with the vehicle eventually brought under control after being “stung” by police—tactical equipment used to deflate tyres and safely stop fleeing vehicles.
Eyewitness reports claim the car was being driven dangerously during the pursuit, at one point narrowly missing a number of pedestrians through Hartlepool's town centre as it sped through residential and built-up areas.
The chase came to an end near the White House pub at Wooler Road, where the vehicle crashed into the roundabout. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, securing the area and detaining those involved.
A man and a woman were arrested at the scene and remain in police custody.
No statement has been released by Cleveland Police regarding the incident at the time we went to publication.
