Hartlepool Borough Council was referred to North Yorkshire Police & the Health & Safety Executive after the death of a child at a council managed activity centre which occurred earlier this year.

A local council which was the subject of a multi agency investigation between North Yorkshire Police & the Health & Safety Executive has reportedly been told there will be no further action taken against them...
Leah Harrison, 10, from Darlington, died on a school trip at Carlton Bank on the edge of the North York Moors at an outdoor activity event managed by Hartlepool Borough Council.
The Year 6 pupil who attended Mount Pleasant Primary School had been on a walk led by instructors when its claimed poor weather quickly set in causing a mudslide.
At the time the council was officially referred to the HSE for investigation into the tragic incident, The council said it would be "inappropriate to comment further" whilst the HSE investigation was ongoing.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) earlier this week concluded its investigation with North Yorkshire Police stating that they would be taking no further action.
An inquest into Leah’s death is due to take place, with Teesside Today required to restrict comments until such time that investigation has concluded....
