In a final act of virtue-signalling defiance, Hartlepool’s Borough council raises the Ukraine flag — in what many are calling a bitter insult to struggling locals, as winter fuel payments are slashed and welfare cuts loom to pay for The Ukraine Dictators war effort...

In what can only be described as a final act of 'woke' virtue-signalling defiance, Hartlepool Borough Council has once again raised the flag of Ukraine — a nation now synonymous not with democracy, but with dictatorship, corruption, and the siphoning of billions of pounds in Western taxpayer funds.
This provocative move comes just as the winds of political change begin to blow across Hartlepool, with two new Reform UK councillors elected onto the disgraced local authority. Reform, which continues to claw support away from both Labour and the Conservatives in post-industrial towns like Hartlepool, has made no secret of its stance on its flag flying policy where only the Union Jack and local heritage flags are to be placed on council buildings under their leadership. No more foreign political tokens. No more pride flags. No more Ukrainian colours flying over British towns whilst what Reform UK says is services cut to the bone.
But of course, Hartlepool Borough Council — tone-deaf and increasingly detached from the working-class communities it supposedly represents — has decided once more to raise Ukraine’s blue-and-yellow banner anyway, the second time since 2022 that the local council that in 2023 was declared an authority of no public confidence has chosen to champion Volodymyr Zelensky's regime. A regime that has cancelled all elections indefinitely, shut down opposition parties, censored media, and even jailed political opponents — all whilst Western leaders lecture the UK public about “defending democracy.”
Let’s not forget the staggering cost of this political theatre. The British government has already said to have handed over more than £12 billion in military and economic support to Ukraine, whilst pensioners across the country are told they’ll get less help with their heating bills. That’s right — winter fuel payments have been slashed, in part, to help bankroll a foreign war. Meanwhile, Hartlepool families are facing rising council taxes, rotting infrastructure, and housing lists that stretch into years.
What message does this send? That Hartlepool Borough Council stands not with its residents, but with globalist interests. That they care more about scoring ideological brownie points than protecting local people from poverty, neglect, and decay.
Across the country, Reform UK is rising — not because of PR stunts or media spin, but because people are tired of being ignored & pushed to the back of the queue like 2nd class citizens. They’re tired of watching their towns fly foreign flags whilst the Union Jack is treated like an afterthought. They’re tired of being told that defending your own country’s identity is somehow offensive.
So let the Ukraine flag fly high on Hartlepool Civic Centre — for now. Because if the people of Hartlepool continue to back Reform UK, this could very well be the last year it does.
And when that flag comes down, it won’t just be a symbolic gesture — it will mark the beginning of a new era. One where councils answer to their people, not to foreign dictatorships & One where Hartlepool puts Hartlepool first.
