Community Centre had been managed by another firm, however its claimed they allowed the lease to lapse, following increased operational costs & a loss of funding sources.

Hartlepool Borough Council has announced that the Burbank Community Centre on Burbank Street Hartlepool is to be offered on the market by informal tender, with bids on the community centre required by no later than 12pm on Friday 28th November.

The building — part single storey, part two-storey — includes a communal hall, office space, meeting rooms, a kitchen, storage areas and toilets.

According to the Council, the site has operated as a community centre since the late 1980s, and they say it would “suit a continuation of this type of use or a variety of other uses” subject to planning permission where necessary.

The Burbank Community Centre was previously run by The Big League CIC, however the business faced criticism over its decision to withdraw from the running of the Burbank Community Centre after revelations the business had paid out significant dividends to its directors.

The Community Centre was previously managed by local Charity The Big League CIC, however due to increased operational costs, the business decided to allow the lease to lapse, allowing the local council to take back the property & advertise it to another operator.

The Big League CIC who previously managed the local community centre faced criticism after a Teesside & Durham Post investigation earlier this year revealed that despite claims of the CIC supposedly 'struggling' after reportedly seeing a loss of a number of funding sources, directors of the firm had paid out over £50k from the CIC's funds to a number of those heading the firm.
