Local fast food chain looking to capitalise on growing EV market seeking permission to install two Electric Vehicle Chargers in its car park.

The Hartlepool Marina could soon see a boost to its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, thanks to plans by a local fast-food giant.

McDonald’s has reportedly submitted a proposal to the Hartlepool Development Corporation (HDC) to install two high-speed 'Instavolt' EV chargers in its car park.

This initiative aims to enhance the town’s growing EV network, catering to the increasing number of electric vehicles now on the towns roads. With several chargers already operating nearby, the addition of these high-speed units is expected to be welcomed as a step forward in creating a more sustainable, low-carbon future for the town.

The HDC is set to review the application, with a decision anticipated around February 2025. Given the rising demand for accessible charging stations, objections to the proposal are unlikely. The project has been described as a "low-carbon development," aligning with broader efforts to facilitate greener transportation options and support the shift towards environmentally friendly travel.
