The plans for a wind turbine to be installed on a local industrial Estate has attracted a significant number of objections from the local community.

Plans for a new wind turbine on Tofts Road West in Hartlepool have been met with strong local opposition, after its been reported that more than 100 objections have been submitted to the local council..
The proposal, put forward by Melton Wind Ltd, seeks permission for a single Enercon E-138 turbine with a maximum tip height of 149.9 metres – around 50 metres taller than the limit reportedly set in Hartlepool’s Local Plan Policy. The turbine would generate up to 4.2 megawatts of electricity, enough to power approximately 2,755 households, while preventing over 5,400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually...
Significant Public Concerns
Despite the promised environmental benefits, local residents living near the proposed site have raised serious concerns. The bulk of objections focusing on the Height and Visual Impact, where its been reported that at almost 150 metres, the turbine would dominate the local skyline, significantly exceeding the 99m height guideline in the Local Plan. Its claimed objections also raised relate to concerns around Noise & Disruption During Construction .
Its claimed letters were sent to 880 households within a 1.1km radius of the site as part of the pre-application consultation, where its claimed that whilst a handful of responses supported the renewable energy benefits, the majority expressed opposition to the plans, with the Teesside & Durham Post understanding the plans are set to be decided at a council planning committee next month.
