Driving Ban, Dangerous Driving and Drug Allegations: Motorist Returns to Teesside Court

Prolific Driving Offender Accused of Failing to Stop for Police...

12th October 2026

A motorist with a prolific history of appearances before Teesside Magistrates’ Court for serious driving offences is due back before the courts today (Monday, 12 October), facing another five further motoring charges, including driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and allegedly failing to stop for police.

Leon Owens is due to appear before Teesside Magistrates’ Court today, where he's expected to enter pleas to a fresh string of motoring offences.

The latest proceedings come just months after Owens appeared before the same court in May 2026, when he faced a separate series of charges involving dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and possession of controlled drugs.

Owens now faces a further five charges arising from yet another string of alleged motoring offences when Cleveland Police Traffic Officers reportedly caught Owens driving yet another vehicle in Hartlepool.

Owens was subsequently charged with five motoring offences after its claimed Owens failed to stop for police when officers attempted to pull him over in Hartlepool...

It is understood that a traffic officer had been following the vehicle driven by Owens when a check on the Police National Computer (PNC) indicated that no valid insurance was held for the vehicle.

When officers attempted to stop him, Owens allegedly failed to comply and continued driving before eventually being stopped by police.

Previous Court Appearance Involved Dangerous Driving and Drug Charges

The latest proceedings aren't Owens' first appearance before the courts in connection with serious motoring allegations, where prosecution records show that on the 28th May 2026, Owens was listed before Teesside Magistrates’ Court in connection with seven similar charges, including two counts of driving whilst disqualified, driving without third-party insurance and dangerous driving. He was reportedly warned he faces a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty in a trial set to be held on those matters next year.

The earlier case also included three drug possession charges, comprising two counts relating to Class A cocaine and a further allegation involving Class B cannabis or cannabis resin.
