A town cafe has been told that it must improve its food hygiene standards after a recent council inspection on behalf of the food standards agency seen its rating slip to one of the lowest of all food establishments across the town.

The galleries in Hartlepool's Middleton Grange Shopping Centre was slapped with a one star rating (one of the lowest ratings) following an inspection by Hartlepool Borough Council in October, at the time of inspection, its claimed an inspection found the Cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building was requiring major improvement, with the management of Food Safety, including Systems or checks to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat was also requiring major improvement.

The cafe now reportedly has one of the lowest ratings of all food establishments across the town & the only establishment in the town with a one star food hygiene rating.

Its currently unknown as to whether the establishment intends to appeal the decision
