Resurfacing Works on Huckelhoven Way in Hartlepool set to be undertaken mostly during the night for the next week, however a local businessman has hit out over concerns the works will effect his business
3rd March 2025
A Hartlepool businessman has voiced his frustration with the local council, accusing them of failing to consult with businesses ahead of planned roadworks that he say's could severely impact trade.
Ian Glass, who owns two businesses on Andrew Street, took to social media yesterday to criticize Hartlepool Borough Council, claiming they neglected to inform local businesses in the area about road closures that he says will disrupt access to his premises & cause a loss of income.
Meanwhile, several residents have reported being unable to park outside their homes due to resurfacing works on Huckelhoven Way, which connects to Andrew Street, with HBC Exposed understanding that these works are scheduled to continue until March 7, 2025, with resurfacing works taking place between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
However, Mr. Glass, who operates both a gym and a takeaway on nearby Andrew Street, claims Hartlepool Borough Council, which in 2023 was declared an authority of no public confidence has failed in its duty to notify affected businesses, with some locals claiming notices were in fact placed on nearby streetlamps to warn of the disruptions, with Mr Glass arguing that business owners should have been given more direct communication from the council that the works were set to be carried out.
There's other roadworks to watch out for in the town

Adding to the disruption, HBC Exposed is aware that carriage-widening works on Powlett Road are also set to begin today (March 3, 2025) and will continue until the end of the month. These works are expected to cause further inconvenience for motorists on their daily commute, as well as a number of other roadworks set to commence that are likely to cause at least some disruption for motorists throughout the month...
