Liquidators Appointed To Hartlepool Hairdressing Business After Nearly 20 Years

22nd May 2026

A Hartlepool hairdressing business which has operated for almost two decades has been placed into creditors’ voluntary liquidation with debts amounting to over £157,000 pounds being owed to its creditors.

Poppys Hairdressing Hartlepool was incorporated in 2006 and traded in the hairdressing and beauty treatment sector. According to company information, the business entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation, with liquidators appointed on the 14th May 2026 with Stockton on Tees Based FRP Advisory Trading Limited, managing the firms affairs..

The latest unaudited financial statements filed for the year ending 30 April 2025 show the company had net liabilities of £157,406, compared with £153,311 the previous year. The balance sheet also recorded current liabilities of £164,653, while current assets stood at just £19,060. The accounts also state the company had an average of six employees, including directors, during the year, with the figures suggesting the business had been carrying significant liabilities before the decision was taken to wind up the company.

The winding up of the business brings further uncertainty over the future of a name that's been connected with Hartlepool’s hair and beauty sector for nearly 20 years & also concerns about the wider local economy, as the number of local businesses in Hartlepool declaring themselves insolvent begins to increase.
