Hartlepool Take Away Slapped with One Star Food Hygiene Rating

The Takeaway located in Hartlepool's York Rd received the lowest rating of all those who were reviewed in the town after a visit by inspectors.

Food Hygiene Inspectors have slapped a Hartlepool Takeaway with a one star rating, one of the lowest ratings in the town for a food establishment, meaning significant improvements are necessary to prevent further action being taken.

Scilianos, in Hartlepool's York Rd was slapped with the one star rating following an inspection said to have been undertaken in June 2025 where its was claimed that whilst Hygienic Food Handling was 'generally satisfactory', cleanliness & condition of the facilities as well as the building required 'major improvement'.

Its claimed inspectors working on behalf of Hartlepool Borough Council conducted an inspection on the premises on the 19th June 2025. There's been no indication the Takeaway has appealed the councils decision. as the Teesside & Durham Post went to publication.

Its the only food establishment in Hartlepool with a One Star Food Hygiene Rating after a previous business 'The Galleries' located in Hartlepool's Middleton Grange Shopping Centre closed last year after being handed an improvement notice by the local borough council.
