Tenants of a block of luxury apartments are set to potentially see their rents increase by a staggering 30% after the apartment block was reportedly sold to a new owner.

Hilda Estate Services reportedly sold off the block of apartments located on the Hartlepool Marina with tenants reporting that shortly after the sale concluded, they received notification from the new owners that rents would be increasing sharply.

Teesside Today's currently unaware of the buildings new owners at the time we went to publication, however its been reported that tenants of the block arent happy over the sharp increase in rent that many claim has already had the effect of some tenants being forced to leave, with some tenants said to have been facing a rent increase potentially of hundreds of pounds.

The increase comes on the back of concerns that a proposed 5% Council Tax increase for residents in Hartlepool in the new year is likely to spell disaster for the towns economic recovery, as locals reign in their spending & the economy nationally said to be 'shrinking' at alarming rates sparking fears the UK could be heading towards a 2025 financial recession.
