Council's seeking consultation from members of the public to ensure that polling stations remain accessible to all locals, after year on year 'dismal' electoral turnouts....

4th December 2024

Hartlepool Borough Councils said to be conducting a review of its current polling stations in a bid to determine whether they meet local needs.

According to a publication posted online by HBC Recently, The councils elections team are reportedly said to be carrying out a review of the polling stations in Hartlepool, assessing whether current polling stations are located in convenient places for users, as well as assessing whether recent improvements to polling stations have made them easier to access.

The survey, running until the 20th December is said to be looking for members of the public to give their comments about the current services & to give any input on any potential future locations for polling stations to be set up for future elections.

It comes as Hartlepool has some of the lowest electoral turnouts figures, with a recent By-election held in September seeing a Labour councillor elected on just 17.02% of the electoral turnout recorded.
